Bobbins and Scale

Friday, I picked up my bobbins again and attended a lace making class organised by Mary Velacott. It wasn't the first time that I heard Mary reference the musical scale when preparing to lace make. To begin my honiton lace text strip I wound silk onto 11 pairs of bobbins. I find the process of lace making a meditative one, enchanted by the rythym of the bobbins weaving in and out.
